There is always a beginning!

Every venture in your life whatever it may be has a beginning! My venture "Kreative Musings" began when
I was a tiny girl in Logansport, Indiana many many years ago. I discovered a pencil and crayons! At school my coloring pages were the brightest, most vivid ones displayed! They were always marked by my teacher, Mrs. Bauman, as the best! Or, "what a good artist you are!" At home, I had coloring books which I devoured!

Books were another love of mine and so I began "illustrating" them as I didn't have blank paper! I laugh when I look at those books today! I knew in my little girl heart that those stories needed illustrations!

From those days to these I have become a wife (twice), a mom (3 times + the gifts that are my two stepkids), a career artist and a GRANDmom! I recently left my career of 23 years at a Midwest greeting card company to slow down and get back to MY creative self! This is my NEW journey!!

Memories Today....

I am deep in some memories today...some are pretty heavy, most are happy, quirky, lovely, and happy.  Those adjectives describe my beautiful niece Kelly Elizabeth Bingham.  Though I should not lead you to believe that that is all she was because she was much, much more than that to me and to all of us that love her!

What does that have to do with my journey as Kreative Musings?  I promised Kelly's mother, my oldest sister "Jewels" or Julie that I would develop a piece of memory jewelry for her of her daughter, Kelly who passed away last September 19th, 2009. Her passing is another post for another day.

To create memory jewelry requires one to think about the person being memorialized.  It was the memories of Kelly that brought back to me the tiny girl I thought of as my own living doll.  I was only 11 when Kelly was born!  The little girl Kelly with the curly hair that never stopped moving!

The teen Kelly that was taller than I and the adult Kelly that was a loving mommy and wonderful friend. The quirky, loveable, happy, loyal, steadfast, prankster, Godly woman that was Kelly Elizabeth Bingham.   I laughed and I cried today as I remembered her.  I miss you young lady taken from us way too soon and I look forward to seeing you again in heaven where I know you are.

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. PHILLIPPIANS 4:8. (That verse perfectly describes our Kelly.)

I promise to post the pic of the finished necklace...as soon as I can get it done!

And Now--My Studio Is Up And Running!

After a year of dreaming...my downstairs is now transformed into my studio!  It had been our family room for years until all the kiddos moved out and on with their adult lives and honestly, until now we didn't use it much. The baby GRANDS were needed upstairs in the great room under their parents' watchful eyes.   It was always a dream of mine to create a space that my creative self could begin to breathe in.
Several things precipitated this transformation:
1.  I retired from Hallmark Cards, Inc. after 23 years as an artist in Creative Specialty Design Studio in October 2009.
2.  The BABY Grands were getting BIG as in 3+ (except for Miss Katie-Bug our then 10 year old GRANDgirl who had the sole permission to venture into THE CAVE and carry on with her creative pursuits) and we desperately needed breathing room in our great room.
SO....I cleared out the junk (had a garage sale and gifted Goodwill with some treasures) and gave the furniture left behind by our youngest to a youth group at a local church!

VOILA!!!!!~

August 28, 2010 Kreative Musings Goes Live With First Show!

CUPCAKES, COCKTAILS AND CREATIONS!

I did it!  I created product and was in my first show as "Kreative Musings"!  My friend and neighbor, Christyn Koschmann of "Bead Up"http://beadup.blogspot.com/ was the hostess and the party was great!  The cupcakes (mine were the Lemon Drop ones), the customers were amazing and I got a lot of interest in my classes (digital art, watercolor, and drawing) and a lot of special orders!  I will do this again!
